Lead by legendary actor and director Clint Eastwood, Gran Torino definitely is one of the 2009 classics.  Eastwood plays a bitter Korean War vet named Walt Kowalski who lives in a Hmong community in Michigan.  This film encompasses how his neighborhood relationships reform over time, especially after the male teenage neighbor tries to steal his prize and possession: a 1972 Gran Torino.
Definitely recommended.  Gran Torino has it all: strong relationships, racial slurs, intense action, powerful rivalries and more.  The only one slight criticism we have: It starts out a little slow, but …

In what is probably the best movie of the year (I guess we’ll have to wait for this year’s Oscars to validate that statement), eighteen year old Jamal Malik (played by Dev Patel) is shown as in the midst of an amazing answering streak on the Indian version of the television game show “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire”. The Last Lecture is a must read, hands down. This book was based off of the final lecture that dying Professor Randy Pausch gave at Carnegie Mellon University. Randy was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and was given limited time to live. With his three children so young, he decided to record his last lecture to his students and dedicate it to his children. The theme of the lecture, and now book, is “childhood dreams.” He eloquently expresses the wonderful attributes of life, the lessons that …

Thomas and his friends try to save the Circus from “confusion and delay.” When the Circus crew comes to town unannounced, Thomas, Gordon, Percy and the rest of the gang band together to try and set everything up in time for the Circus to be able to perform for the town. After some rough patches along the way, Thomas finds a way to prove himself useful and the Circus is saved.
